The Graduate School of Social Sciences (GSSS) at the University of Bremen
invites applications to its 3-year Ph.D. program from October 1, 2007 to
September 30, 2010. The GSSS is part of an international network of graduate
education and is funded by the Volkswagen Foundation.
The GSSS offers 9 stipends for Ph.D. fellows of 1000 Euro/month for 36
months, contingent on successful completion of each year. Funding is also
available for empirical research and travel.
We invite applications within the three thematic fields of the GSSS:
- Transnational Relations and Political Theory
- Welfare State Transformation
- Social Change and the Life Course
Foreign students are encouraged to apply. As the University of Bremen
intends to increase the proportion of female employees in science women are
particularly encouraged to apply.
In case of equal personal aptitudes and qualification disabled persons will
be given priority.
Interested students with an M.A. (or an equivalent degree) and command of
